Trend forecast: grey is here to stay

Given its only September, we haven’t made any resolutions for 2018 yet but one thing we can count on for the coming new year is that it’s going to be “all about grey” – at least according to the Pantone Color Institute. From dramatic, charcoal tones to ice-cool, sparkly silvers, our favourite shade continues to make its mark in both traditional and contemporary interiors, as more designers harness its sophisticated look in paint shades, fabrics, accessories and – of course – floor coverings (few shades are more forgiving when it comes to dirt and stains).

None of this comes as a great surprise: grey is arguably the most versatile colour on the spectrum, capable of creating both warm and cool “moods”. It also makes a perfect foil for a host of other colours. Try a pale dove-grey hue with blush pink (2018’s replacement for “Millennial Pink”, you heard it here first); team a deep granite with a pop of bright orange or lime green, or opt for a boutique-hotel look with an all-grey scheme with highlights of white or black.

You can search our database by colour to discover a wealth of cool and warm grey shades such as Sisal Colossal in Silver, which has subtle shimmering tones with a hint of icy blue, or Sisal Babylon in classic Grey, a warm, rich hue perfect for bedrooms and relaxing spaces. Different textures and weaves will give different effects, throwing light in different ways, so take advantage of our free sampling service and experiment with a few different looks at home. And don’t forget, all our gorgeous natural products can be made into rugs, too – you just specify the size and shape and we’ll do the rest.
