Trend watch: autumnal hues

While we’re huge fans of cool hues like pale grey and Millennial Pink, we’re delighted that this season’s hottest decorating shades have a warmer, more inviting vibe. According to trend forecasters and decorating experts we’re going to be seeing a lot more autumnal shades, such as burnt orange and gold, in our interiors over the coming months – whether in the form of paint colours, soft furnishings or rugs and other floor coverings. It’s all part of a general shift away from pared-back minimalism towards homeliness and cosiness, and creating a feeling of safety and security.

Oranges and golds are instantly cheery and welcoming, and can brighten the starkest of spaces. Even a north-facing room with little natural light will appear instantly more inviting with a gold- or yellow-toned carpet in Natural Coir Bouclé or Panama seagrass. Throw in some pops of orange or rust in the form of cushions or fleecy throws for a harmonious, pulled-together look that invites you to snuggle down. Want to go bolder? As well as gorgeous organic tones, our natural floor coverings come in a range of vibrant shades that will make a real style statement in any room, our eye-catching orange Soul 2 Ratia paper rug (pictured) being a fantastic example. It’s as strong and resilient as it is striking, plus it’s 100 per cent organic into the bargain – even the backing is made from natural materials – and as a way to give a room an on-trend update without spending a fortune it can’t be beaten.
