A relatively new addition to the Sisal & Seagrass stable of fabulous natural flooring. Our vibrant Satara rugs are crafted in India from natural fibres – including repurposed old cotton clothing, recycled leather and jute – by small-scale producers who still use largely traditional techniques.
Boasting rich textures, joyful colours and vivid geometric patterns, our Satara rugs are ideal for brightening up a room for spring and summer. Most importantly, however, the entire collection has been certified by GoodWeave, the international rug certification scheme that ensures rugs are made by adults, not children, with no forced or bonded labour involved.
In order to earn the GoodWeave label, rug exporters must be licensed under the GoodWeave certification programme and sign a legally binding contract to adhere to GoodWeave’s no-child-labour standard. They must also allow unannounced random spot-checks by local inspectors, and pay a licensing fee that helps support GoodWeave’s monitoring and education programs.
Each Satara rug features a numbered label on the reverse that can be traced back to the producer, linking you directly to the lives at the other end of the supply chain. When you buy a Satara GoodWeave certified rug you’re supporting educational opportunities for children in India who might otherwise be required to work.
There are some truly stunning designs in the range, so check them out here. With eight different designs, a multitude of colourways and size options to choose from, you’re sure to find one that suits your living space to a tee. We hope you’ll love them as much as we do.
