Ocean Clear Carpets is a brand new range we are launching at Sisal & Seagrass. Split into three ranges, Pacific is made from 100% recycled plastic fishing nets, while both Atlantic North & South are composed of 100% recycled PET plastic bottles. The carpets come in three distinct weave options, Herringbone, Panama and Cut & Loop, as well as several luxurious colour choices.
Although this range drifts from our usual natural product, it still rides the wave of our sustainable, eco-friendly model. Helping to clear the oceans of plastic waste one square metre at a time.
Managing director Guy Gibbon on the new launch.
“We launched this range because we are always looking at more ways to help with the environmental crises our world has found itself in. We are doing a lot with our natural products, helping to offer an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic carpets for those with chemical intolerances. But there are so many other issues in this world, unfortunately, we don’t have the resources to tackle them all! But with Ocean Clear Carpets, we can help in a new way; assisting in the clearing of plastic pollution in our oceans”

A unique aspect of this range is the messaging behind the range and every product within that. Operations Manager Alex Reynolds highlights the importance of and the attention to detail he put into the product descriptions.
“This range is special, and its inception is entirely focused on the benefits it has for the environment, so it is absolutely vital that we convey that in our messaging when talking about the products”
Asking about the difficulties in getting that important message across while still eliciting the exquisite looks of the carpets, Alex had this to say.
“The challenge is writing a short story about each product and its namesake while still communicating the environmental importance of the product; If we can help enlighten people about the impact plastic waste has and connect them to the creatures it directly affects, then I see that as job done”.
Description of Atlantic Seal

This is not the only big news from Sisal & Seagrass upon launching this revolutionary range of carpets.
The company has long been in an internal struggle with itself over supplying the Pure Wool carpet range. Guy explains in detail.
“We love our Pure Wool range, it offers an alternative to natural fibre carpets for those who have chemical sensitivities and having visited the farm it is sourced from, we know that the sheep are kept in amazing conditions and never taken to slaughter, but professionally and personally we have all had a bit of a shake-up in the last few years which has caused us to have an internal debate about the future of the range”
This is in reference to the incredible announcement that Sisal & Seagrass’s aim is to become the first officially recognised vegan flooring company. Alex describes his first meeting with Guy when interviewing for the position at Sisal & Seagrass.
“During my interview at Sisal & Seagrass, Guy and myself found ourselves on the topic of diet after being told there was no milk for the coffee I had been offered, at which point I mentioned that I was vegan anyway, Guy joked that I had gotten the job as he and the other staff had also recently became vegan. I knew I had found the perfect company at that point and drove home excited that I had stumbled upon exactly what I was looking for”
For this reason, Sisal & Seagrass are ready to officially announce that we are dropping our massively successful Pure Wool Range as of the 1st of August 2022.
But the chemical intolerant need not worry. Our natural ranges, which include Sisal, Seagrass, Jute, and Coir are all still VOC free and a perfect, sustainable, environmentally and conscious friendly choice for any struggling with sensitivities of this nature.
