Sisal & Seagrass are excited to announce a brand new product range in our biodegradable carpets. This new range features 5 stunning new products that are made entirely from plants (including the backing) making them completely biodegradable. To celebrate this new launch we want to look at the benefits and features of these new carpets.
No Glue Installation.
Another fantastic feature of these carpets is that they do not require glue to install them. This means that customers who wish to avoid glues in their carpet installation can now choose one of these sisals within our no glue carpet range. For those unaware natural carpets usually require a double stick system. A double stick system basically means that the underlay for the carpet needs to be glued to the sub floor and then the carpet glued to the underlay. Although the glues typically used in natural carpet installation is low VOC and off gasses within days, this can still be a concern for those who are extremely sensitive to chemicals.
All Plant Construction.
Although all our products (with the exception of ocean clear carpets) are 100% natural, usually natural carpets have a backing which is made from a chalk based latex. Although this is entirely natural and completely VOC free this chalk based backing is one of the main reasons why natural flooring must be installed using the double stick system mentioned earlier.
The backing on our new Bio-Boucle carpet range of biodegradable carpets is made of a 100% Compostable felt backing composed of recycled plant materials. This means that as long as it is not glued during installation, when the carpet has served its purpose you will be able to recycle or compost the carpet to reduce waste and impact on our planet.
Durability and Features.
How long does it last?
Although these new biodegradable carpets have a different backing to our other products, they are just as durable. With most natural carpets you can expect a lifespan of about 10-15 years, although with special care some customers have maintained their carpets appearance for more than 25+ years.
Are they moth and fire proof?
Like all other sisal carpets the new Bio-Boucle range are naturally moth and fire proof. Natural carpets generally (except wool) meet these standards without the need for any addition of chemicals. Because of this they are a great choice for those who suffer from chemical intolerances or are concerned about adding carpets with chemicals to homes with children present.
The range also comes available in custom rugs and runners. Bio-Boucle sisal carpets are available to order now as cuts or samples.
