Sisal & Seagrass plant trees with the World Land Trust.

We’re really excited to announce that we’ve become a Corporate Supporter of the World Land Trust (WLT).

WLT is an international conservation charity that focuses on protecting threatened habitats and providing support to local communities. Patrons of the charity include Sir David Attenborough, Steve Backshall, David Gower and Chris Packham. Its ethos is on proactive, sustainable, and mindful conservation that’s free from ‘green-wash’. The World Land Trust’s open and transparent philosophy proved to be a deciding factor in Sisal and Seagrass approaching the charity.

In support of WLT’s Plant a Tree programme, we’ll fund the planting of a tree for every order of flooring and rug, with consumers given the option to donate at checkout for additional trees to be planted. WLT’s local partners select native tree species to fit with the wider ecology of the habitat, helping to restore and sustain some of the most delicate environments around the globe.

“It was imperative that any partnership provided a long-term, thoughtful solution to the environmental issues affecting our lives today, and in the future,” reflects Alex Reynolds, operations manager, Sisal and Seagrass.

“There’s no quick-fix to some of the most pressing environmental concerns of today, but with the WLT we plan to make a difference on a global scale for the future. We found the charity’s straightforward and open approach is similar to our own and for that reason, we are delighted to be a Corporate Supporter.”

Since its foundation in 1989, the World Land Trust has helped to secure more than 2,222,247 acres of threatened habitat in 20 countries. The Plant a Tree initiative has so far planted in excess of 2,000,000 trees over more than 5,900 reforestation acres. The World Land Trust now ensures that more than four million acres of land is managed under active protection worldwide.

Tracey Butler, Corporate Communications Manager, World Land Trust, says; ‘We are grateful to have the support of Sisal & Seagrass, and delighted to be working together to support WLT’s local partners to restore critically threatened habitats.’
