Jute Carpet

Known for being soft and luxurious, Jute carpet is a fantastic choice for those new to natural carpets.

The delicate silvery tones of Jute provide the perfect combination for homeowners looking for subtleties of nature. Jute is created by washing and drying the strands of the Cochorous plant. Once dried in the sun, stands are sent to spinning mills which create the natural yarns used to create the delicate patterns of our Jute range.

Many customers confuse Jute with natural plant fibres like Sisal carpet and Seagrass flooring. Please read our blog on the differences between natural carpets to learn more.

We recommend using Jute primarily in low foot traffic areas. This is due to its durability rating of light domestic use. For areas such as bedrooms or offices this type of flooring is perfect due to the typically lower foot fall and desire for a cosier, softer feel in these spaces.

Why Choose Jute Carpet?

As the softest natural flooring option, jute carpet is a fantastic choice for bedrooms.

Unlike other natural carpets jute is rated as light domestic use. This means that jute carpet should not be used on high foot traffic areas like stairs or walk ways. However, in rooms where foot traffic is lower, you can still expect to see 10-15 years of use.

Another benefit to jute flooring is that it is one of only a few natural carpets that can be fitted without glue. This gives buyers more options and flexibility when trying to find carpet fitters to install the carpet.

As with all our other fully natural carpets, jute is a completely chemical free carpet, resistant to fire and naturally repellent to moths and larvae.
